Thomas from Christ Church School has received a special Outstanding Award for his efforts to raise money to help refugees in Calais. He raised £82 for leading a Lego project, the Year 5 pupil had the inspiration to fund raise after travelling through Calais on his last family holiday. Thomas was so shocked to see state of the camp that he decided he had to do something about it.

“Over this last term I’ve run a Lego club every Monday and Wednesday lunch time and children from Years 1,2 and 3 have given a donation to come along.” says Thomas

“We are so proud of Thomas, of his initiative and determination and the time he has given up to run this project. “ says Head Teacher Duncan Gauld.  He’s done a fantastic job and shown exceptional leadership. I think it’s so important for us as a school to support children when they have a vision and set out to achieve something like this – it’s part of a good all-round education.”
