English Music Academy returns to Chorleywood to present Music for Christmas, a two day course at Russell School, Chorleywood on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 December.  The two day course led by one of the UK’s leading classical musicians Paul Archibald and a team of professional musicians is co-ordinated by Sam O’Shaughnessy, EBA Event & Administrative Coordinator and Chorleywood musician and teacher Christine Deeley

The course gives young musicians aged 8-18 years an opportunity to develop musicianship improve instrumental technique and perform some seasonal classics in a workshop environment and concert.

“ We came to Chorleywood last summer but two days gives us a chance to do more and there is less pressure. “ says Paul.

Paul started the Music Academy in 2010 when music was becoming less of a priority in state schools.

“ We cover all age groups who play strings, wind brass and sax – no percussion. Kids can bring pieces to play to each other and to our tutors. Our approach is relaxed and as much about focusing, stage performance and etiquette as skills – making friends and social interaction is an important part as is overcoming performance anxiety. Our young musicians are encouraged to respect their instruments, to smile, make the audience feel welcome and just enjoy playing. Music is all about the audience! All the music is going to be Christmas related this time so it’s going to be such fun – we’ll have carols, classical pieces and might even do some jazz! ”
