Teachers Steve Marshall Taylor (right) and Graham Kennedy   celebrating on their way back from France after successfully swimming the Channel on Monday 14 August from Folkestone to Cap Gris Nez near Calais in a time of 13 hours 8 minutes, after leaving the UK at 2am.

The former members of Christ Church youth groups took the to raise money for a friend, Pete Bellinger, who has Motor Neurone Disease.

The pair swam in hour-long relays, monitored by the Channel Swimming Association. ‘There were times, ,’ when we both felt like giving up” says Steve, “. The main challenges were sickness, cramp, cold, jellyfish, strong tides and extreme fatigue. No wet suits were allowed. The hardest stretch was swimming in the darkness and cold in the first few hours.”
