Chorleywooder Maud Cutting was never a great social media person but then she put up a Facebook post that changed the family’s life.

“I suddenly thought of using Facebook to appeal for a kidney donor for my son Henry. He has had renal disease for 2 ½ yrs and was put on a donor list but waiting is hard, it can take 2 – 4yrs which is too long. The response was amazing. Five people came forward and two were tested. The best match was family friend John, inspired by a colleague’s daughter who donated her organs following a fatal car accident. John was fantastic.”

Henry, who went to St Clement Danes school and is studying Catering at West Herts College, is doing well after the transplant last December.

“I have a new lease of life “ says Henry, “ I would encourage anyone to carry a donor card if they can.”
