If you are a  fresh Christmas tree lover you needn’t stray far from Chorleywood ,..our two nearest stockists, Andrew Fleming and Van Hage both deal in top quality Christmas trees and will deliver.

But before you dismiss buying artificial, take a look at the latest fake firs. Some are so convincing . Artificial trees are now made of Polyethylene or PE (used to be PVC) which can be moulded to make any shape and create much more realistic branches. Although pricier, trees made from PE are longer lasting and more effective. Check out the Windsor, Grandis Fir and Balsam Fir all by Kaemingk Everlands at Van Hage and with 12 year guarantees. Hang some Scentsicles on the branches to add that fresh pine aroma (also come in Cinnamon, Spiced Orange, Snow Berry, £6.99)

Look too at the wicker tree skirts… a stylish way of neatly hiding the stand or the base . Available in limed effect or natural. Large £25. All at Van Hage.

Trug Gardening are running their second pop up Christmas Shop and festive workshops at Chenies Manor in early December

Trug’s style is loose and natural with a woodland feel and the offbeat range typically incorporates amaryllis, paperwhite narcissi, orchids and streptocarpus,

“ This year we are offering a garland and table decoration making in addition to the two wreath workshops.” says Charlotte Figg. “ We have also added an online ordering service too.  We’re doing hot bowl food all day in the café as well as seasonal treats,”

Floral collections on sale include winter flowering plants, ready-planted spring bulbs in stylish containers, wreaths and fresh indoor floral decorations

CW Mag went along to the Trug workshop last year and made greenery circles using a variety of foraged materials like hips, berries, ivy, pine, eucalyptus, feathers. It was great fun – Full details below and at www.trugdesign.co.uk

Rowan Garden Centre are also running wreath making workshops from 4 – 8 Dec at 11am , there were a few spaces left when we went to press. £35 to include materials plus tea, coffee, and mince pies. Book on 01494 872335
