A Weepie But Goody!
Another sell-out screening is expected with The Film Club’s May offering ‘The Light Between Oceans’. Based on M.L Stedman’s novel, the heart-breaking drama is about fate, love, moral dilemmas and the lengths one couple will go to see their dreams realised.
In the years following WW1, lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and spirited Isabel (Alicia Vikander) live together in married bliss on a remote, rugged island off the Western Australian coast. One day, a lifeboat carrying a dead man and crying baby washes ashore. The dilemma the couple now face will echo far beyond the island, engulfing and irrevocably impacting their world – and that of a stranger (Rachel Weisz) – with the potentially life-changing choice.
Directed by Derek Cianfrance, the film also stars Jack Thompson and Bryan Brown.
