Chorleywood Bookshop is running Gift a Book for the second year running. Last Christmas 333 books were bought by customers and donated to local underprivileged children aged 3 – 18yrs.

“This year we are liaising with local organisations The Dorcas Project and The Castle Fields Children’s Centre and Three Rivers Child’s Centre” , says Kira Gibson, “We will also be supporting Storybook Dads, a service allowing prisoners to record a story onto a CD for their children, says Kira Gibson

“Storybook Dads is a vital lifeline between prisoners and their families.” adds Sd Project Co-ordinator at The Mount Prison, Bovingdon,“ Being able to share a bedtime story brings much comfort to children and taking part helps boost prisoners’ self esteem.  Prisoners who maintain contact with their families are 6 times less likely to reoffend.””
