Rachel Day has found her perfect niche.

There couldn’t be a better way for the bubbly, sociable 22 year old to spend her day than organising events.

What started as favours in pulling together parties for a few friends, has fast become a business. Rachel, who left St Clement Danes School after the sixth form in 2014, secured her first job in publishing with BBC Magazines where her role included arranging press breakfasts, brand launches and internal company events. A year on she moved to a television company, working alongside Kirstie Allsopp and eventually left to work for a start up event production company. It was the event organising that she enjoyed most at every stage.

“ After being really keen to work in TV at the beginning I found it was the planning and co-ordination element that I loved. I produced product launch days for Pandora and help plan weddings and parties in England, Scotland and Paris. In March this year I set up my company Day Productions which revolves around, party, wedding and event planning. I am based at the end of my family’s garden in Chorleywood, which has been transformed from a wooden shed that was our playhouse when we were young!

I have planned a 50th birthday party this year for the CEO of Boden and organised three weddings, including a Hindu celebration, a wedding at Claridge’s and one in a back garden! I am keen to work with more local people, either helping to set up a party at home, in a hall or hotel, or completely taking on managing the whole event from booking the venue to planning a guest list, sorting invitations, booking the caterers, finding a band or other entertainment, arranging menu tasting, liaising with local florists and styling the space. I love it that commissions are so different! I have been asked to do a christening and a 21st party for next year …nothing is too small or too big!
