For their 2016/17 season finale, the Film Club are combining with The Twinning Association to present La Famille Bélier – a funny French family drama that was France’s most popular film in 2015.
For the Béliers their 16yr old daughter Paula is a vital member of their eccentric clan. As the only non-deaf family member she acts as their ears and mouth allowing the townspeople to communicate with the often misunderstood Béliers.
One day this harmony is thrown in to disarray when Paula discovers an untapped gift for singing and with her music professor’s encouragement auditions for the prestigious Maîtrise de Radio France music college in Paris. This leaves Paula with a painful dilemma: to stay with her family or take her first steps towards independence
Full of joie de vivre it builds to a heart-soaring finale, La Famille Bélier (Cert: 12) is a feel-great triumph.
Fri 16 June, Memorial Hall Doors/ Bar 7.30 pm, film 8pm. Tickets: £6 at CW Bookshop, and on door if available.
