Three generations of a local family pitched in to help out with Chorleywood Lunch Club’s weekly home deliveries recently. Regular helpers Erica Woodhouse and her mum Janet Garton were cooking and serving lunch at the RVS Wednesday Lunch Club in Bullsland Hall while Erica’s two daughters Connie, 8, and Pippa, 6, were out on the road with Linda Clarkson and Annie Simons delivering some of the freshly cooked meal to homes.

Two recipients, Robin Oborn and Mona Satterthwaite were delighted to meet the young helpers and Mona was only too pleased to share some chocolates and show the girls her 100th birthday card from the Queen.

The Wednesday fresh meal delivery service is open to anybody who would benefit from having a takeaway delivered once a week.

“Many people are capable of cooking a meal for themselves but it takes the pressure off to know there’s a fresh nutritious hot meal delivered to your door mid week” says organiser Linda Clarkson, “It’s just one less day to worry about. We often help out people who can’t get to the shops because they are caring for a relative, have a chronic illness or have just been discharged from hospital. Currently a two-course meal costs just £3.50.”

If you or anyone you know would like a Wednesday Lunch Takeaway or would like to go along to the Lunch Club at the Bullsland Hall please contact Linda on 01494 762849 – Transport is provided
