A friendly peacock has moved into Chorleywood and regularly visits gardens in Greenbury Close and Green Street

” He seems very friendly” says Greenbury Close resident Christine Deeley “He has made a nest in an oak tree in my neighbour’s garden. He is well mannered and doesn’t seem to be eating any flowers!”

” If peacocks walk somewhere they find their way back home but they can lose their bearings when they fly off ” says Claire Barlow who has kept peacocks in her garden alongside the River Chess for many years. ” They eat more or less the same as chickens.”

Tiggiwinkles Wildlife Hospital advised…

‘Peacocks are technically exotic pets.  They can be sneaky and are very strong and are difficult to catch.  The best plan of action is to contact the RSPCA or a local vet who can put the word out and may have a record of the owner. They roost high in trees so are not at risk in the meantime.”.
