The Summer Reading Challenge is back. Run by charity The Reading Agency to encourage reading, last year’s Challenge celebrated Roald Dahl and this year’s theme is Animal Agents. Children read six library books and collect rewards along the way

“It gives children a reason to read in the holidays and introduces them to new books” says Chorleywood’s Challenge co-ordinator Penny Pugh, ”Last year Stanley Thomas was picked to go to a special event.”

“Stanley really enjoyed the Reading Challenge as he loves Roald Dahl stories.” says mum Lisa, “The books really captured his imagination – It’s usually a struggle pinning him down to read!! He was excited to win and meet a real life author and is looking forward to this year’s Challenge.”

The Reading Challenge website has a book sorter with suggestions from other children, there are author videos, competitions and games.
