We highlight two of the many events hosted by Chorleywood Bookshop
With summer and tennis upon us An evening with Judy Murray is an obvious choice to highlight
Judy’s memoir Knowing the Score: My Family and Our Tennis Story charts the challenges she has faced, from desperate finances to sexism. As mother to tennis champions Andy and Jamie Murray, Scottish National Coach, coach of the Fed Cup, and general all-round can-do woman, Judy Murray is the ultimate role model for believing in yourself. The parent/coach/leader is an inspiration who has revolutionised British tennis.
An evening with Judy Murray, Wed 14 June, 7.30pm, The Junction,
WD3 5SG. £20 inc book & Pimm’s.
No Cunning Plan – The title of Robinson’s autobiography published this month in paperback reflects the catchphrase of his much loved comedy character Baldrick .
“ It’s a tribute to Blackadder and that Baldrick transformed my life but also that there has been no cunning plan and I’ve ended up in a fantastic place I my life!”
“ I was 38 when I did Blackadder so there was a heap of life prior to that.”
…Both before and since, like playing the Artful Dodger as a child, being bullied by Steve Marriott, failing to impress Liza Minnelli and being pushed into a stinking London dock by John Wayne.
Then there’s presenting Time Team for twenty years, risking life and limb filming The Worst Jobs in History, Comic Relief missions and much more.
The book is a mix of comedy with “a bit of politics and things that you might not know about me.”
Promises to be an entertaining night.
