Energetic student-led youth orchestra Watford Youth Sinfonia (WYS) presents a Christmas Concert in Watford on Saturday 30 December
The concert features pieces by an English composer and conductor Matthew Taylor, Austrian born composer Korngold and Russian composer/ pianist Shostakovich.
WYS was founded three years ago by its conductor and artistic director, Daniel Hogan. Now 20, Dan of Little Chalfont is in his second year of studying Music at York University but continues to run Watford Youth Sinfonia in between his uni lectures and coursework, planning holiday concerts and researching works to play. The orchestra has grown from a small chamber orchestra to a wealth of 100 regular members, with the talented musicians coming from local youth orchestras, the junior and senior conservatoires, and venturing from universities all over the country to come and play.
