13/12/14Chorleywood is lucky to have The King’s Chamber Orchestra (KCO) in town again and there’s no better way to kick off the Christmas season than an evening with evening with KCO
Musical Director, Internationally renowned cellist and chamber musician Gerard Le Feuvre, is renowned for his sense of humour and lively performances, He is particularly looking forward to this winter tour because of the number of young musicians taking part.
“ We have new generation coming through who we connect with well. One of the things that sets us apart from other orchestras is our sense of fun, we are so spontaneous – we just have a framework and respond to the audience. We might include an improvisation of a folk song or a Christmas carol. We do an impro on a song called Be Still that has touched people so deeply, every time it comes out differently. “
Calmness at this time of year is important, says Gerard because “it’s meant to be a time when you hunker down with your family and have a rest but it inevitably becomes manic. We feel our music brings a bit of peace in the run up to Christmas.”
Expect uplifting pieces from Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Paganini too at this gig. Both the evening, and the children’s concert in the afternoon, have a light/ starry theme for good reason…
“ We all feel wonderful when we look at the sky and the stars and we have some dazzling music to reflect this. We want to show kids how music can twinkle and be as exciting a starry sky!”
