Watford Palace Theatre (WPT) has a reputation for putting on some of the best theatre around, but what isn’t as widely known is that they run a couple of money saving schemes aimed at making theatre more accessible.
The WPT’s Rumour scheme, designed for ages 16-25 is completely free and young members benefit from getting £5 theatre tickets on selected performances, £4 film tickets (£5 for 3D films) 20% off all food & drink in the Cafe & Bar.
In addition there’s free access to exclusive events and offers as well as open mic nights for all to join in.

The second initiative, Multibuy is open to everyone and offers four productions for the price of three.
Chorleywooder Sue Mander is a convert.
“ It’s a really good way to see first class theatre that you might not usually consider. One of my all time favourites was The Seagull, not because I like Chekov – but because it was produced by Headlong who are renowned for re-imaginings of classic texts and making them current and compulsive. I saw Headlong’s version of Medea too a few years back and loved it! I’ve seen other great visiting companies too – Northern Stage and Northern Broadsides are brilliant. Another good thing about the deal is that it makes you book dates – and actually go! So often we prevaricate and then miss out, Invariably, the play that you add as your last choice turns out to be your favourite – it’s a bit like seeing clothes on a hanger and not knowing which will suit you best until you try them on. It’s so much less hassle going to Watford than trekking into London too, tickets are cheaper anyway plus it’s easy to park.”
How Multibuy works
Select four out of a possible five plays in one season. Just phone to book all at once. You can change your mind on dates but not on plays.
