Young Chorleywood dancers are excited to be part of English Youth Ballet’s (EYB) performance of Coppélia at Watersmeet this month.
JK Dance Academy students’ Matilda, 10, & Ned Beswick, 8, with Connie Woodhouse, 9, (Christ Church School), Hollie Hale-Gavriel ,9, (Russell School) and Alicia Bataller, 16, (St Clement Danes) along with Isobel Sastry,15, who trains at Carol Kristian Theatre School, (main pic) are six of a 75 strong troupe of 8 to 18 year olds in the production dancing alongside six professional principals.
“The young dancers are treated just like the professionals in the rehearsals with EYB” says Principal dancer Samantha Camejo .
“They discover what having a dance career might be like.”
Coppélia follows the escapades of the dreamy Franz falling in love with a beautiful, life-like doll created by eccentric inventor, Dr Coppelius. The plot thickens when Franz’s jealous lover, Swanhilda, takes her friends on an adventure into the spooky house of the mad inventor to confront her rival. It all ends happily
