This year, on Rickmansworth Festival’s 25th anniversary, 120 boats will moor up over the May weekend and there are activities over the two days (Sat 19 and Sun 20 May).
Highlights include a dog show, Phoenix Morris Dancers, Kayaking demos, an animal ‘farm’, tug o war, kids’ workshops, plus a double Battle of Britain Memorial fly past from the RAF display teams, one led by a Lancaster and the other a Dakota. There are trade, craft, food and charity stalls and five music stages hosting all manner of music styles from soul and pop to country rockabilly, Celtic folk, funky jazz, flamenco and Bluegrass skiffle as well as rock and gospel choirs, dance and comedy. As for must-see acts there are too many to mention but Electric Umbrella gets our biggest shout out – this energetic collaboration of local pro-musicians and adults with learning disabilities so deserve a packed audience. Phoenix Jazz should be fun, arriving appropriately on a boat while Owlsworld’s Acoustic stage always has top bands and a great atmosphere.
There are boat trips running from Batchwork Lock and the historic wooden working boat Roger will be open for visitors.
