The winners of Chorleywood Film Festival’s Young Film-makers Competition were announced – and their winning entries shown – at the Festival’s Saturday morning session on 25 February. Sofia Foord with her film – Sofia Goes To Spain – was the winner in the 7-11 year age group; Millie Insua won the 12-15 age category with her entry – A Love Like Mine and Joseph Selby’s film This is Me, won in the 16-18 year age group.
The judges praised the entries overall but singled out Sofia’s (“an excellent sense of what’s interesting”), Millie’s (“The use of light and slow motion were effective at creating an evocative mood”) and Joseph’s (“wonderfully paced … a mature and thought provoking presentation”) from the others.
They have each been invited by the Film Festival’s special guest, top British Director, David Yates, to a recording session at Abbey Road Studios for the soundtrack for his new film Fantastic Beasts 2.
Pictures and a fuller Film Festival report will appear in next month’s edition of Chorleywood Magazine.
