Richard Field has  released a video of the Children’s Home in Uganda that Chorleywood has indirectly helped finance through supporting local events, most recently the Julie Felix and Madeline Bell concert at Christ Church last November and the Cow Party at Heronsgate last summer.

“The film shows how we have used the money raised so far. I would like to say thanks to everyone who made it possible” says Richard, “I have just been able to ship a Black and Decker Workmate out too  thanks to Poores of Chorleywood who gave some money in return for me helping put together the Boules court in Budgens loading bay with Chorleywood Magazine on French Market Day.”

Local gardener Richard has been spearheading fund raising campaigns for the Ebenezer Children’s Home in Uganda over the last four and a half years.

“I am going back to the home in December – we have so much more to do to help the place become more self sufficient.” says Richard, “So far we have built the anaerobic digester – which includes toilets, a Kitchen, washrooms, rainwater harvesting. They have cows, a garden, solar panels to power lighting and a work room. An oven for baking bread is on the to-do list and so are chickens, but the main aim is trying to start a charity to support the home and help make it self funding.”
