If you spotted a bus stop in Dog Kennel Lane this morning it’s nothing to do with the 336 bus route – it was a mini set for the filming of The Sense of an Ending featuring Jim Broadbent, playing main character retired divorcee Tony Webster. In the scene being shot Webster is dropped off by a bus to catch a train. The bus stop was in the layby opposite the entrance to Cedars Village.
Based on the Booker Prize-winning novel by Julian Barnes, the adaptation co-stars Charlotte Rampling, Emily Mortimer, Harriet Walter and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey).
The plot sees Webster delving into unreliable memories of his first love. When the past catches up with him, he reflects on the paths he and his friends have taken.
Indian film maker Ritesh Batra ( BAFTA nominated The Lunchbox) directs the film from a screenplay by playwright Nick Payne (Constellations).
The film is being co-financed by BBC Films and will be distributed by FilmNation
