holiday shot It’s one thing having a digital camera, but another taking good shots. Master Photographer Rob Purbrick’s U Photo training courses are a godsend for anybody with no patience for reading the instruction manual and make an ideal Christmas gift.

“Most people use their cameras on automatic and never change the exposure or aperture.” says Rob Purbrick, “ I give some simple tips for taking better photos and show people functions that can help them get seriously creative.”

Chorleywood resident Andy Slatford’s wife bought him a U Photo Gift voucher as a present

“Rob was extremely good at explaining all the technical functions and helping us put it into practice as we took shots around Chorleywood Common. The review and critique session at the end was particularly helpful as it crystallised all that we had done in the day – it improved my confidence in taking better shots enormously”

Mum of three, Choi Van Rest, wanted to improve her holiday shots

“Rob taught us the art of composition and what makes a good image. I create far better memories now, not just snaps but photos you want to keep. I was really pleased with a photo I took of a beach in Canada. I composed the shot using foreground detail as well as the rule of thirds to really capture what I was seeing. I never use my camera on “auto” any more and also take better photos on my phone. Rob is a very enthusiastic and encouraging tutor and sets the pace and standard of the course to meet the needs of those attending”

With only three or four people on a course at any one time it’s a relaxed and fun day, with homemade soup and bread for lunch thrown in!
