During August a child of 16 or under can get to see a show for FREE when accompanied by a full paying adult. The week, which is actually a month (it stretched to four weeks for the Olympics in 2012 and has stayed a month) is not just about watching shows. Children can take part in free activities or extra events. As well as fun for little ones, there are brilliant packages for teenagers. They can take a guided tour of Shakespeare’s Globe, (inc entry to the Globe Exhibition, with swordfighting, costume dressing and printing press demos) or learn choreography from Green Day’s American Idiot with the cast. They can see how Mark Haddon’s book Curious Incident of the Dog in the night -time is brought to life on stage with lights, sound and movement or learn a dance routine from The Bodyguard and perform it on set. But for fashionistas there is no contest … there’s a presentation by shoe designer Lucy Choi (niece of Jimmy Choo) followed by a Q&A and young creatives can design their own ‘Kinky Boots’ under her tuition.
