It’s time to pack away the tees, dig out the knits and update your wardrobe for Autumn/Winter 16. And you won’t go far wrong if you invest in a few good outfits says Tracie Ness of Number One Boutique.
“We need to follow the 80/20 rule” stresses Tracie, “So many of us wear just 20% of our clothes and the rest stays untouched for most of the time when we should be wearing 80% of what we have.”
It helps if we make the right purchases to start with.
“It’s about classic basic pieces… your solid jeans, leather jackets, classic white shirts and then changing make up, hair and accessories to freshen the look. Buy fewer, better items not lots of cheap ones.”
Just be aware of the latest trends – the colours, textures, shapes and lengths, the style of shoe and height of heel.
In Autumn 2016 we are seeing more navy, aubergine and claret with rich fabrics, brocades and especially velvet which is soft and flattering against skin.
Key pieces include skinny high waisted jeans, long loose waistcoats and puffa jackets. Bodies make a comeback and are a great base layer while capes and ponchos are perfect speedy cover ups
“All these are great for the school run!”
Checks, plaids, animal prints (yet again) are in evidence and silhouettes are exaggerated – wider, looser, slouchier – go for dramatic big sleeves, flirty skater skirts or flowing flares if you dare.
Leather is still with us in force and for frivolity we have fun furs and foxy thigh high boots (Although not worn together Pretty Woman style! warns Tracie)
When you’re ready to refresh your wardrobe head for Number One Boutique, try on a few pieces and expect to be impressed.
