In our digital world it’s a tough time for independent bookshops which makes us even more proud that our own indie in Chorleywood is being acknowledged on a national basis. Last month CW Bookshop were awarded Vintage Independent Bookshop of the Year 2016!
“ We struggled bringing the giant cheque home!” says Bookshop owner Sheryl Shurville, “We won on the strength of our Vintage campaign, especially social media. Staff chose their favourite Vintage books (mine was Heidi!), Tom put together a list of Vintage summer reads of books relating to countries and Sian Ryan of Revival Rooms styled an amazing window on a Jungle Book theme. We ran a Vintage related event with the Film Club screening the Swallows and Amazons film,”
Sheryl has also been invited to be a judge for the First Novel category in the Costa Book Awards and had fifty books to read. The shortlist is published on 22 Nov, winners on 3 Jan, Book of the Year on 31 January
