CHAPS IN HATS DO A GRAND JOB!

The Chaps in Hats (CIH) are doing a grand job of cheering up the folk of Chorleywood and in the process could be putting us in the running for being the Happiest place in Britain again.

The guys were over the moon that Club member and graphic designer Martin Smith not only designed a jolly Chaps In Hats logo but brought a box full of giant button badges for members. Green Street resident Hilary Gullett, who often sports her own hat to greet the ever growing group, was very happy to be one of the few ladies to receive one of the limited edition batch.

The feel good factor is spreading far and wide. Eric is one of the latest CIH members. Having lost his wife recently he was becoming increasing lonely, and daughter Ashlyn, who was concerned about him, spoke to the group

“She asked if Eric could join us as she felt it would help him through his grieving period.“ says Mike Westacott, “This got to us all, it was heart warming. Eric is now a seasoned member and a straw hat is on order!”

Lisa Thomas is another local who is grateful to the Chaps. As an MS sufferer she was feeling increasingly frustrated at being unable to access the Swillett Play Area in her mobility chair since the summer months. The entrance had become badly overgrown with the path banked up and uneven making it unsafe for wheelchair users.

After chatting to The Chaps, CIH member Mike, a Parish Councillor, made a call and the following day, work was carried out enabling easier access to the park.

“It is absolutely great to think that we can be of benefit to the people of Chorleywood”.
