If you like Whodunnits, Chorleywood Amateur Dramatic Society is performing Peter Gordon’s Murdered to Death, an Agatha Christie style spoof. Set in an English country manor house in the 1930s, owner Mildred has invited friends to stay for the weekend. Following the death of one of the assembled party the inept and bungling Inspector Pratt arrives to lead the investigation. Hampered by his own incompetence he attempts to solve the murder. Will the local amateur sleuth, Miss Maple, solve the mystery sooner than the police? With so many motives and more red herrings than the Atlantic Ocean will the culprit be unmasked before anyone else meets their doom? An eclectic cast of characters guarantee intrigue and amusement.
“This play has some great gags,” says Director Barbara Stunell, “The characterisation is excellent and allows us to make the most of their eccentricities. In addition to one liners, the physical comedy adds another layer of humour. It has been challenging to rehearse but great fun. There are so many twists and turns to this play that we have been regularly confused who the murderer is.”
Thurs 6 Nov – Sat 8 Nov Memorial Hall 8pm £9, in advance from Chorleywood Bookshop, or The Box Office 07565 013676. £10 on door.
