Electrifying. Daring. Dazzling.
We’ve all held a rock concert in our showers, singing to our legions of adoring fans. Yet, when we step out of our showers, we step back into reality. This isn’t true of Paul, brought to life by Sherlock villain Andrew Scott. As he descends deeper into an emptying, immoral world, Stephens’ (Punk Rock, Seawall) accentuates the corrupting price of fame. Carrie Cracknell’s direction is invigorating, the murky waters and flashing lights demonstrate the opposing forces at work – much like Johnny (Alex Price) is the grounded force against Paul’s distorted sense of reality. A stellar cast, Daniel Cerquiera, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Yolanda Kettle and Charlotte Randle, occupy multiple character roles – seamlessly transforming before our very eyes. Stephens’ excels himself in his latest production; it is a truly refreshing, remarkable piece of theatre – praise enough for a rock star.
