Chorleywood House Estate, The Aquadrome and Leavesden Country Park are among 1,582 parks and green spaces, cemeteries, universities, shopping centres and community gardens in Britain to win a prestigious Green Flag Award again this year.

The Green Flag Awards, handed out by environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy last week (23 July), are judged by an army of more than 700 volunteer experts who visit applicant sites and assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.

A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

“This award recognises and highlights that people in Three Rivers are benefitting from a green space of the very highest quality.” says Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, Community and Wellbeing at Three Rivers District Council,

“We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.” adds International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd, ” All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
