Fright Night at The Old Shepherd, Sat 31 October, 7.30pm. All profit to Michael Sobell Hospice.
You can always rely on The Old Shepherd for a good atmosphere, whether it’s at the monthly live music night or a one-off celebration but put the two together and it’s bound to be a top night. So expect one almighty knees up at the Chorleywood Open Mic Open Fright Night Halloween special on 31 October
“We have a great line up of talented Open Mic regulars” says organiser Paul Jones, “Once, twice, three times a Ukelele are real crowd pleasers and perform some numbers you wouldn’t expect to hear on a ukele. Stompin’ Al is Mr Enthusiastic – when he gets going we give him a wide berth. We have entertaining Viv Bartlett, aka Crazy Viv and Fast Eddie on solo guitar with 60s and 70s favourites and some recent numbers, who comes back with his band later to headline playing a full-on rock and roll set. Billy the landlord is decking out the pub and there is a prize for the scariest fancy dress outfit – although costume is optional!”
“ All profit from the night go to Michal Sobell Hospice ” adds Billy, “There’ll be a hog roast in exchange for a small donation. We have lucky squares and great raffle prizes including a specially commissioned painting by local artist Mark Taylor, lunch for two at Gusto Deli and a home alarm system and installation worth £600+.”
“ We couldn’t think of any better local charity to support than Michael Sobell Hospice at Mount Vernon Hospital that offers care for people facing cancer and support for their families” says Paul, “ So many Chorleywood people have been touched by cancer and the sad fact is we never know when we or one of our family will need their help.”
