Gill’s Shabby Shack is situated in Chipperfield and sells a growing stock of painted furniture, accessories and lighting.
“We are part of a small number of local businesses. I have a workshop and retail space which is divided into themed areas, one we change around a lot – it will soon be transformed into a walled garden.
I was an old school window dresser by trade and was always painting furniture, then I worked at Laura Ashley advising customers on home decorating projects so it made sense to put it all together and do it myself.
I get lots of great feedback from customers, particularly men who like the way it is laid out!”
Lots of Gill’s stock is Fairtrade or made in the UK.
“I like selling gifts and cards made by small companies and individuals, some are very local!”
