Valentine’s and Mother’s Day dining in and around Chorleywood.

Sathi is one of the best restaurants around for celebrating Valentine’s and Mother’s Day in traditional style on the day with roses and hearts all the way. Mezze Mangal will be dimming the lights on 14 Feb and bringing in the candles and Herons have some menu specials planned.

Local eateries offering a special Valentine menu on the 14th include The Cock, Sarratt (£80 a couple), The Grove (£100 pp, Mother’s Day £75 pp) The Gate (12-14 Feb, 3 courses £29.95 including a glass of bubbly) and The White Horse (Starters from £6.50, Main from £13.95 and Dessert from £5.95) but to really impress with a romantic ‘diner à deux’ go for their doublers – 24oz Côte de Boeuf Chargrilled (£38.95 to share) followed by Dessert Platter for Two of Chocolate strawberries, Passion Fruit Cheesecake and Orange Polenta Cake (£8.95).

The Bedford Arms, Chenies have a Valentine’s extravaganza in their elegant Oak Room on Saturday 13 February. The four course dinner has three dish options for three courses including a vegetarian dish, a glass of De Castelnau Brut Champagne to start and an entrée of Bucks Fizz Granite. (£60 a head) Contact details on p18.

Or avoid the lovers’ weekend altogether and treat your Valentine to a promise of a night out with a difference two weeks later (27 Feb) in a Pop Up Restaurant at Micklefield Hall’s 16th century barn. The three course meal is prepared by The Wild Kitchen with all ingredients sustainably sourced (£55 a head inc canapés). This works too as an early Mothers Day treat.
