Kathy Foster paints in oils focusing on the common theme of our impact on our environment and those things that are part of it, especially human traces
“ I do enjoy familiar subjects like often overlooked everyday objects and places, including old shoes, books, chairs, fences and plastic bags and bottles but I sometimes get out and about painting around Chorleywood!”
“ I painted Chorleywood Cottages in Spring this year, it’s a view I love, looking across the Common towards the cottages they are small in the landscape, sandwiched between the ground and the sky. The other picture of the Common was also done in early Spring, well before the summer colours appeared, and the more muted palette at this time of year allows me to focus on abstract qualities in the landscape, concentrating on shape and form. And I was commissioned to paint John Roberts Estate Agents building – they have it hanging in their office!”
