ChefsonTrial_Resized-450x306Chorleywood Chef Allan Himowicz who runs Gusto in Lower Road takes part in a brand new series on BBC Two: Alex Polizzi: Chefs on Trial which runs from tonight to Thursday.

The series, which sees Alex Polizzi take on the difficult challenge of finding Head Chefs for restaurants that have a desperate need to fill a vacancy. Hiring a Head Chef can make or break a business. But hiring one who is an outstanding cook and can handle the pressure and the pricing is challenging for many restaurateurs.

Over a week the show follows candidates as they go through a rigorous interview process. As well as testing their technical cooking skills, all candidates will have a face to face interview and a chance to cook a signature dish that shows off their culinary abilities. But at the end of the week only one can get the job.

Seventeen years in the trade have seen Allan cheffing at leading London and Italian venues as well as UK country hotels, Silversea Cruises and exclusive yachts. This latest challenge put him under more pressure than he has experienced before. He gives no clues to the outcome so we’ll be watching this week.

Other programmes from the television production company TwoFour include The Hotel Inspector, Educating Yorkshire and Splash

Alex Polizzi: Chefs on Trial  starts Monday, 20 April,  8pm on BBC Two runs from Monday to Thursday.
