The Metro-land posters showing idyllic cottages and green fields were designed to tempt Londoners to relocate from the city to the countryside North West of the capital along the railway route in Middlesex, Herts and Bucks. Several reprints of Metro-land posters (£11.99 – £14.99) are available at London Transport Museum Shop in Covent Garden and online, including one showing Wembley Towers which had the extra purpose of promoting The British Empire Exhibition of 1924/25. There is also a book is about London’s Metro-Land (£16.99) showing how the Met and private developers encouraged people to ‘Live in Metro-Land’.
