The Film Club dedicated the last screening of their season to Paula Pinn who suddenly collapsed and died on 5 June. Keith Frost explain
“Frankly, we’re all still in shock. Paula was such a familiar and popular figure round the village. She’d lived here for many years and had worked at Chorleywood Beaumont helping to care for its older residents before she retired. Always full of energy and enthusiasm, she’d do anything for anybody and was one of the most ‘can do’ people I’ve known.
“A keen supporter and volunteer for a number of local organizations (The Bookshop, Chorleywood Care and the Film Club amongst others), she was also a member of several U3A activity groups. But although she had many other talents, she wasn’t the greatest map reader in the world according to other members of U3A’s Strollers and Striders group.
“Paula really loved cinema and would regularly travel up to London and elsewhere to see films that had taken her fancy. With her great friend Mary Wilde, she joined The Film Club’s Committee about 18 months ago and threw herself into our activities – working tirelessly to help promote our screenings and establish the Club as an integral part of Chorleywood’s cultural scene. Paula had championed 45 YEARS and was instrumental in getting it included in our season – so it was only fitting to dedicate the screening to her.
“We’re certainly going to miss her, her great sense of fun and the contribution she made.”
