Chorleywood Bookshop has had a makeover… fresh paint, new carpet and new fittings. But it’s not all cosmetic.
“We have completely reorganised the shop” says owner Sheryl Shurville. “When people were buying books as presents they inevitably needed a greetings card, so we increased the card choice and introduced gifts a while back. Now customers are as likely to come in for a card or gift as a book so we have replaced the card spinners with a new streamlined unit which makes it easier to pick out cards. We’ve also created a special children’s card corner.
The shop is less cluttered and there’s more room to move around. The change gives us more practical space for gifts. We have some brilliant new products – the Penguin book cover range, mugs, notebooks and even a water bottle. There’s fun new blue Emma Bridgewater stationery and we have the quirky giant letter – notebook called Alphabooks! And of course walls lined with shelves stacked with books – fiction and non fiction, we can get in virtually any title at any time, often at a day’s notice”
