Tracie Ness of Number One Boutique advises on what’s on trend this autumn.
“There’s a strong green and khaki story, some taupe and lots of rich earthy reds like burgundy and maroons this season. Butter soft leathers are big, brocades are back and velvets are everywhere. Leather doesn’t stop at jackets, there are skirts and tees in smooth or perforated finish. And the most gorgeous versatile leather dresses. There are some convincing faux skins too, fake snake and fake fur – the animal prints go down well, we have a leopardskin gilet everyone wants to stroke! Knits come draped or oversized and chunky and there’s lots of sparkle.
The 70s influence is still with us, mini skirts, maxi dresses, jumpsuits… it’s about your personality, do you dare to flare?
Ponchos and capes are popular and Love Molly cashmere wraps are all time favourites – you can wear them in so many ways… as a shrug, shawl, scarf, poncho or snood. Some people buy a few colours
These, like a lot of our ranges, are ageless. In the shop we cater for practically all ages from 27 to 80. And it’s not just the women buying, I often help guys choose a giftl”
And now with the new website, customers can buy online or suss out what’s in stock before they visit. And Tracie promises we’re likely to be able to shop at Number One for a long while yet.
“It was our third birthday last month and I’m sure we will be celebrating many more birthdays in Chorleywood. I’m in for the long haul!”
