Image 16The Oborn family have had an especially rough ride over the last eighteen months. Jean was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease then husband Robin, who had been fit and active, had a serious accident in October last year which left him paralysed from the shoulders down and unable to care for Jean. A few months? after Robin’s accident Jean passed away.

With the immediate family – daughter Sharon and her brother Mark living with their own families in Lyme Regis, day to day life has been difficult for Robin who is reliant on daily carers.

Robin is a long term Chorleywood resident and member of St Andrew’s church and is a much respected and loved individual.

Chorleywood estate agent Sewell and Gardner have recently set up a Just Giving page to help raise funds to buy a vehicle which will enable Robin to get out and about again with some sort of normality.

” We moved Sharon and family from their Chorleywood home to Dorset” says Kate Woodward, Manager of Chorleywood Sewell and Gardner” then we moved the Oborns from their Whitelands Avenue house to a centrally located flat so we’ve got to know them well. The family have had such a difficult journey with ill health and when Robin and I were chatting recently I realised that he can’t get out of Chorleywood without having to rely on taxis and ambulances.”

We thought that it would be great to fund a wheelchair accessible vehicle.”

“My Dad has worked tirelessly in the community supporting others over the years and volunteering in his free time.” adds Sharon. “It is really lovely that people in Chorleywood are wanting to help him now”.
