White Noise have already made their mark in Chorleywood. The St Clement Danes’ students have a dedicated following at the school and, after playing at Chorleywood Christmas Festival two years running, they are appreciated by local music lovers, if only as ‘that young talented rock band’.
Recently they were selected as a Bucks Battle of the Bands finalist and competed against eleven acts at Wycombe Town Hall last month.
“It was an amazing experience and we were impressed by the venue, as well as all the incredible musicians we met.” says band leader, fourteen year old Gaeten, “It gave us the opportunity to play on a stage with a more professional set-up.”
The band is made up of two sets of siblings.. Gaetan and Max Buisson (14) who are two of triplets and twins Daisy and Henry Rutter (13).
Daisy, who plays guitar and vocals in the band, also plays flute, percussion and piano and is a keen member of the school orchestra. She cites her biggest influence as her music student brother Toby, while front man guitarist/vocalist Gaetan is a serious rock fan of Led Zepp, Guns and Roses, Jeff Beck and The Yardbirds. Henry on bass, and Max, drums and are the more mellow, laid back band members. The band already have a social media manager, Tyler, and hope that arty non–muso triplet Camille will design their first CD cover. And with five original numbers already an EP may not be that far away .
White Noise were one of the youngest bands involved in Bucks Battle of the Bands
“The standard was really high“ says Kersten Luts, Battle of the Bands Creator and Bucks Learning Trust Music leader, “The competition gives young musicians a chance to take contemporary music more seriously – so many play in their bedrooms or rehearse in the garage but don’t often get a chance to perform on a big stage in a decent venue with proper tech.”
It might be a while before White Noise make enough money to charter their private jet (“We have made £15 each!”) but with their skill, determination and enthusiasm they should go far. Catch them in their next public gig at Rickmansworth Canal Festival on Saturday 20 May (1.45pm). In the meantime it’s a case of frequent rehearsals fuelled by Costco donuts and Oreo milkshakes.
