LIFTETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR JACK SMETHURST

JM120415 (110)-1 JM120415 (104)TV and film actor Jack Smethurst was recently presented with a Lifetime Achievement award from charitable trust The Heritage Foundation for outstanding contribution to the Arts and Entertainment. Jack, who is best known for his role as the bigoted Eddie Booth in 1970s sitcom Love Thy Neighbour, has lived in our area for nearly sixty years. He was thrilled to be honoured at the special tribute lunch.

“ It was a wonderful occasion,” says Jack, “there were eighteen of my family there and lots of friends I have worked with.”

 

Jack joins a long list of celebrities to receive Heritage Foundation recognition including Tommy Cooper, Buddy Holly, Dusty Springfield and Bobby Moore

“Jack is a great pro with one hell of a CV and we wanted to acknowledge his work.” says Heritage Foundation Chairman David Graham, ”He did a Q & A with Barry Cryer, OBE which, was very funny – they were like a double act!. As well as saluting the greats in the world of Music, Film, Stage, Television and Sport with tribute lunches, dinners and blue plaques, our raison d’etre is to raise money for Bomber Command Memorial Fund through our events.”
