Chorleywood U3A are a keen lot. They celebrate their fifth birthday this year and now have over 400 members with some 60 interest groups ranging from Politics Discussion and Patchwork to Singing for the Terrified, Space and the Universe, and Demystifying Social Media.
“The most popular by far are the art appreciation and walking groups – there are four of each,” says chairman Jill Menghetti.
U3A (University of the Third Age) is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment aimed at providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.
Talk to members of U3A at Village Day on 12 July or head for the Memorial Hall on 24 June (2.30-4pm) for a taster session -Cordite and Capital R and the Olympics presented by David Butler who, despite a childhood accident, went on to head a $750m division of an international company, was directly involved with the development of the Internet and has an MBE for service to Disability Sport.
