Maisie, the delightful Chorleywood Greyhound who won the Public vote in our Happiest Dog Competition, is takes part in The Great British Greyhound Walk  with owners George and Becca.

“The greyhound community walk to raise awareness of the plight of the ex-racing greyhound.” says Becca, “It’s quite a sight to see them all walking together. Around 20,000 greyhounds retire off the track each year. Some go to the greyhound charities but sadly many ‘disappear’ and are dumped or shot.“

Becca admits she is officially greyhound potty

“We got Maisie from the Retired Greyhound Trust. Greyhounds make amazing pets, they don’t need much exercise, are quiet, placid and great with kids, cats and small dogs. And they are the only dog to be mentioned by breed in the bible! ”

“We have 2 rescue Lurchers Tilly (6, top ) and Scooby (11). They are beautiful dogs, lazier than most people think, a couple of walks each day, the rest of the time they like to sleep – usually on the sofa.
There are so many Greyhounds in rescue, but the Rescue Centres and Charities do an amazing job of rehoming as many as they can.”
