Chorleywood Twinning Association has rrecently returned from their biennial visit to our twin town Dardilly The group stay with local families then return the compliment as hosts

“ We had a really great trip” says Richard Foster, “ It’s our 20th year so it was a special one – The Chiltern Singers came out and performed a concert on the Sunday night followed by a buffet and drinks reception hosted by their Association and local council dignitaries.”

“ The Chiltern Singers are a chamber choir subgroup of the Chiltern Choir who practise each week in Chorleywood “ says Stuart Marshall, Choir secretary, “We sang hymns, madrigals from across the UK, and some settings of nursery rhymes like A teddy bears’ picnic,. All were enthus

iastically received by the audience who joined in some of them!”

During the week the group went to the medieval village of Oingt in Beaujolais, complete with wine tasting, lunch and a visit to the Musée de la Musique Mécanique.and also had a guided trip around the Dardilly Horticultural college who send students to work with Three Rivers every year.

It was Gaye Daniels’s first visit

“ I joined the Twinning originally to improve my French and meet new people and I’ve made some good friends.  It was my first Twinning trip and was a wonderful experience.  Our hostess is one of the joint Deputy Mayors of Dardilly and her husband a businessman and Mchelin standard cook – Dardilly is the gastronomic capital of France. I loved the mix of Medieval and modern architecture in the area – the windows with their stone/concrete surrounds are unique. My most memorable outing was to the mechanical musical instruments museum with exhibits ranging from one of the earliest pianos to

wind-up record players  We’re looking forward to reciprocating the hospitality next year.”
