We would like to congratulate the staff and pupils of St Clement Danes on their outstanding examination results for 2014.

The school’s GCSE results have been improving year on year for 15 years. In 2014 the headlines are:

5 A*-C grades 92%
5 A*-C grades (with English and Maths) 87%
A*-A grades 47%

Over half the grades in Maths and nearly half the grades in English were at A* or A. 89% of students in English made 3 levels of progress from the age of 11. This compares with 69% nationally.

In Maths 91% of students made 3 levels of progress from the age of 11 compared with 70% nationally.

For 4 levels of progress it is 59% in English (national figure = 30%) and in Maths it is 69% (national figure = 32%). These results show that, not only are the students attaining great results, the progress they make between Year 7 and 11 is outstanding.

AS and A Level Results

At AS the % A and B grades is 57% which is a 3% increase on 2013 results. At A level there was a 100% pass rate with 65% of the grades at A* to B.

These are significant results and are well above the national and Hertfordshire’s average. This year the percentage of A* grades at A level was 13%, an improvement on last year and contrary to national and Hertfordshire’s results which have seen a dip in the numbers of students achieving the highest grades.

The Headteacher, Dr Valentine, commented ‘In a year of reported ‘volatility’ at GCSE and the shift from modular to terminal examinations in GCSE and A Level we are absolutely delighted with our excellent results. The highlight has to be the fabulous increase in the percentage of A and A* grades at GCSE. To think that almost half the GCSE grades achieved were at A or A* and that one third of the year group received straight A grades or better is fantastic and represents the culmination of a huge amount of effort by the students and their teachers.’
