Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool, Chorleywood Film Club’s selection for April, is based on Peter Turner’s memoir, and follows his unlikely real life relationship with the eccentric Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame in late 1970s Liverpool.
What starts as a vibrant affair between the legendary Hollywood femme fatale and her young Liverpudlian lover, quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort. Their passion and lust for life is tested to the limits by events beyond their control.
Directed by Paul McGuigan and starring Annette Bening, Jamie Bell, Julie Walters and Kenneth Cranham, the film is a sweet and sad story of star-crossed lovers.
