Never has the need for the Samaritans’ services been so great but with so many volunteers isolating and unable to man calls to the same extent as usual or raise funds, our local branch, Chiltern Samaritans, is launching an online event.
“We think the mental health fallout from Covid will carry on long past the return to a more normal life. Our service will carry on making 25-30,000 contacts a year in our branch with people who are really struggling. Raising funds to keep going has been more challenging over the last year and rattling tins, holding coffee mornings and our big annual cycling fundraiser have all had to be shelved so we came up with the idea of a silent auction. We’d like to think that we could raise £5000 and fund our branch for two months.”
There’s a whole host of goodies up for grabs from show-stopping cakes and desserts, afternoon tea, guided garden tour with full tea and fizz, quality wine and champagne to a beginners art class, interior design consultation, a round of golf, a session with a professional photographer and much more.
Chiltern Samaritans Silent Auction starts this weekend on Sunday 7 March 7th and will carry on for 2 weeks to Sunday 21 March
