1611RAOTW-Video-Shoot-03-a-cLocally based, internationally renowned photographer Danny Clifford has just been ploughing his way through a pile of  photographs, signing each one for a new deluxe Status Quo book, The Frantic Four Revealed.

“The few hundred Quo photographs that I have signed will be going out with some of the limited collectors’ edition books. The shot is pretty much the last moment of the Frantic Four gig at the end of the tour in Dublin.. The book is quite amazing and has many photos that have never been seen before. Quite a few that were taken by yours truly. Saying that, there are also some great shots taken by some superb photographers. The book isn’t the cheapest book, but certainly one of the best Quo books and a must for all Quo fans.

One of the shots in the book is from the first time I ever worked with Quo when they were filming Rocking all over the World for Top of the Pops (left). I was about sixteen. The manager told me to pack a bag and get over to the studio. I got there at 9am, sat around all day waiting for them until late in afternoon when a brand new Porsche pulled up with Rick Parfitt in it, then another one with Francis Rossi. The band rehearsed and we did the shoot then we all got on a bus and went straight off on tour!  I’ve been working with Quo on and off ever since. The latest jobs were a naked shoot representing the music which has been stripped back to an acoustic set, and an unplugged acoustic session at The Roundhouse (22 Oct) which went out live on BBC Radio 2.”

Danny has an uncanny instinct for knowing when a good photograph is about to happen. It is his creativity and especially his feel for light that has made him one of the most highly rated celebrity photographers in the country and recognised worldwide.

The portraits in his gallery include those of high profile actors like Brad Pitt and Sharon Stone, global leaders Kofi Annan and Nelson Mandela and musicians such as Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, the list goes on.

His greatest skill is in creating photographs that are so animated that they mimic moving images.

“I travel worldwide to do music shoots. We can really capture the feel of the event, whether it’s an intimate gig or a festival, and document it forever.
