CW Care meetingInspired by a presentation given by Paul and Nicky Edwards of Chiltern Physiotherapy at Chorleywood Care AGM (3 Sep), the charity’s Chairman Peter Briscall announced that the organisation would meet the £1500 cost of a publicly accessible defibrillator in central Chorleywood.

“There are 12 cardiac arrest incidents a week with half in schools.” says Paul, “The survival rate with CPR is 5% but 75% if a defib is used within the first 5 minutes so an easily accessible unit is crucial.”

Chorleywood Care, who provide travel to Chorleywood residents for medical appointments, don’t charge for their service but accept donations and like to contribute excess funds to something that benefits the community.

The unit is likely to be located outside John Roberts building in Lower Road, and Chiltern Physio, plan to offer training on defib use.

To access the boxes people will need to ring 999 for a code.
