It was the last Out of Bounds Comedy Night organised by Erica Bendall for Chorleywood Common Youth Football (CCYFC) on 20 January and it was one of the best yet. Erica, who has been CCYFC Welfare Officer since 2012 along with Rachel Simm, has pulled together top fundraising events for the Club and her final shindig in the Memorial Hall was no exception.
Headliner comedian Roger Monkhouse was ‘just unbelievable’ and support act Jonny Awsum had the audience ‘humming, singing along and clapping with his feel -good musical comedy. Jonny was familiar to many from his Britain’s Got Talent audition last year where he had Ant and Dec taking part in a 3 minute musical.
“We raised a whopping £3000 at the comedy night” says Erica, “There were some amazing prizes. Two football dads donated football tickets in a silent auction and football coach Daryl Craft donated two family tickets for the Watford/Everton match on 24 February.”
Money raised as ever tops up Club subscription fees and helps fund match balls, groundsmen, goalposts, net replacement, pitch and clubhouse maintenance and pays for managers’ training.
Erica stepped down from her role with CCYFC last month with a long list of thanks to her ‘brilliant back up team” including.. Stu Leavey, Terry Kennedy and Larry Simm (Bar gurus). Managers Mark Ward, Mark Timpson, Roy Bennett, Pete Higgins, Filipe Ferrara, Treasurer Ian Wright and Rachel Simm.
£12000 has been raised over the five years from events initiated and run by Erica and her dedication and graft has been much appreciated “Erica always works tirelessly.” says Mark Ward. “She has great people skills, is very organised, efficient and gets things done, the Club have been very lucky to have had her on board Thank you Erica!” …
Katie Coteman is he new girl on the block and has the ddrive and skill sets to keep this event on the social calendar for Club and locals alike
